Beer News

As Shultzy's "Keg Master", beer has been on my mind lately, so I thought I would share a couple of items with you.

Oktoberfest Beer Prices (in Germany)
The price of beer is not yet set, but the official organizers estimate that a liter of beer will cost between 7.7 and 8.0 Euros.  For those Americans in attendance, that puts the price of a frosty Oktoberfest beer at $11.86 to $12.32.  You'll be happy to hear that our liter prices at Shultzy's are considerably lower; our regular price for a liter of beer is $9.50, and if you came in at Happy Hour today, a liter of Spaten Helles Bock would have set you back only $7.00!  We'll be doing our best during Oktoberfest to create our own festive atmosphere for you to enjoy your beer here.

And according to the Oktoberfest countdown clock on our website, there are only 44 days left until the party starts at Shultzy's.

Kostritzer Schwartzbier, the Pride of East Germany
The Toronto Star wrote an article on Kostritzer Schwartzbier (Black Lager), a favorite of many Shultzy's regulars.  I wasn't aware that Kostritzer was from the former East Germany and was brought to commercial prominence when it was acquired by Bitburger who increased sales fifty-fold over the last 20 years.  Goethe supposedly lauded Kostritzer for its healthfulness, though we just like it for its taste.  Tomorrow's Thursday, so well have dark beer on special all day: $3.99 for a 1/2 liter.   Dinkel Acker Dark's currently on tap, but Kostritzer's up next, so come on in and give it a try.
