Go Huskies! New Top-25 Beer Special during Husky games.

Congratulations to Coach Romar and the Washington Huskies men's basketball team for taking the Pac-10 lead and breaking into the AP Top-25.

We have a serious case of  Huskies fever at Shultzy's and have added a new beer special in honor of the hometown team.  We're #23 this week, so during this week's Husky games, you'll get your first pint of our Micro of the Day for only $2.30.  Really!

And if we can beat #14 Arizona State and move up to #15 next week, that first micro pint during next week's Bay Area games will be only $1.50.  And I'd love to have us look silly with the Huskies cracking the top 10 and us offering your first micro pint during games for less than a dollar!

Huskies vs Arizona is 5:30pm tonight, and Huskies vs #14 Arizona St. is at 2:30pm on Saturday.  Come on in, have a beer, and enjoy the game!  Root hard; the more the Huskies win, the lower the price of beer gets.

Tonight's Top-25 special Micro is Redhook's Copperhook Ale, and we'll move to Alaskan Amber Alt if the Copperhook runs out.

Lots and lots of beers

I was just updating our beer links list in the right side bar and realized that we've had beers on tap from over 40 different brewing companies in the last year. Wow! No wonder we have to update the beer menus so often. And with many of those breweries providing Shultzy's with multiple beers, I'm guessing we've probably had about 100 different beers on tap this past year.

At some point, if people are interested, I'll go back and try to find out exactly how many we had and create a list.

In the meantime, check out our list of beer links in the right sidebar -- lots of sites to visit

New Year, New Menus

With the new year comes some updates to our in-store menus, and now to the online menus on our website. We're always adding new things at Shultzy's, and wanted to update our online menus to give you the latest info.

Lunch and Dinner Menu (HTML) (PDF)
New additions to the Lunch and Dinner menu include the Pulled Pork Sandwich, Chimichurri Cheesesteak and Chimichurri Veggie Burger, the Hot Italian Burger and The Vesuvius (promoted from monthly specials). The Irony Burger (a Veggie Burger with Bacon and Cheddar) has returned to our menu, and the Chili Cheeseburger is brand new.

We also have an exciting change to our chili, gumbo, and soups; they now come in three different sizes. Small (8 oz.) is the former "Cup", Medium (12 oz.) is the former "Bowl", and we now have a Large which is 16 ounces and includes a toasted roll. In the first few days of the year, our chili, gumbo, and soup customers have enjoyed the new meal-size Large option. And, we now have a soup and salad combo that allows you to add a small crisp green salad to any size chili/gumbo/soup for a discounted price.

And, since we're always working in the Shultzy's R&D labs, we have some new monthly specials on the menu. We have the brand new Moroccan Cheesesteak and Moroccan Veggie Burger; they feature our custom North African spice blend and Shultzy's own red pepper harissa sauce. Don says, they're "Fez-burning Hot", but as a spicy food lover, I just think they're great. Insider's tip: Rory (Lead Grill Jockey) suggests adding grilled onions.

We also have a special winter addition, Spicy Hot Italian White Bean Chili. It starts with Shultzy's Hot Italian links, that we've been making ourselves and pleasing our customers with for 20 years now. Add pancetta, garlic, onion, spices, white beans, and organic free-range chicken broth and simmer. Delicious, and the roll with the new Large size comes in handy for enjoying every last drop.

Breakfast Menu (HTML) (PDF)
2009 also brings new changes to our breakfast menu. We've refocused our breakfast menu to provide our customers with a quick hot breakfast that will fit in well with their busy schedules. Burritos are now front and center -- our breakfast burritos made with our own Chorizo and Breakfast sausages have proven to be a favorite and you can get one and a cup of hot Caffe Vita to coffee to go for only $5.

And those of you who like Shultzy's sausage chili should try The BOB (Bowl of Breakfast), Sausage Chili and a fried egg (over easy) over rice; a hearty flavorful breakfast that you can get in a hurry. We also have the Veggie BOB (substitute our Vegetarian Red Beans for the Sausage Chili) and the Humpty Bob (same as the regular BOB, but with scrambled eggs instead of fried egg on top).

We appreciate our customers past and present, and look forward to seeing you in 2009!

P.S. If you're interested in following our daily beer changes/specials, try following us on Twitter. You can even get updates sent to your via SMS if you'd like.

Brian's 21!

Who's Brian?

He's a lucky guy from the UW Aerospace and Aeronautics Engineering department whose friends are celebrating his 21st birthday with his friends and a couple of 3L boots of Franziskaner.  Does it get any better than that?

Happy Birthday, Brian!
