** No Trivia Competition Tonight ** (Sorry!)

Our trivia master is temporarily missing after the long weekend, so there will be no Tuesday night trivia this week.  We apologize for the inconvenience/disappointment.  If Jeremiah and I tried to fill in for him, all questions would involve beer and/or hockey.  OK, maybe that wouldn't be so bad, but we're still not having trivia night tonight.  Sorry.

Shultzy's will be closed Sunday (May 24) and Monday (May 25)

Shultzy's will be closed tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday of this Memorial Day Weekend.

We'll be open for business at 8:30am Tuesday morning for Breakfast Burritos, Caffe Vita Coffee, and my favorite, the Humpty Bob.

Enjoy your weekend off (we'll be cleanin', paintin', fixin', and maybe we'll have a little time for some relaxin'). :)

Dark Lager lovers get ready for Seattle Beer Week at Shultzy's

Dinkel Acker Dark Lager has been a perennial bestseller at Shultzy's and a favorite among fans of German Schwartzbiers.  Sadly, Dinkel Acker stopped distributing their draft beers in the USA, much to the disappointment of American dark beer fans.  We tried our best to horde all we could, even getting kegs shipped up here from as far away as Colorado to satisfy our thirsty patrons.  Sadly, no more exists to be purchased.

BUT... deep in Shultzy's strategic beer reserves, we have secreted away a handful of kegs of this nectar, and we're going to be tapping them this coming week in honor of the first annual Seattle Beer Week .  So, come on in, drink a beer, and shed a tear in honor of the last USA kegs of Dinkel Acker.

P.S.  Don't forget that Wednesday is the Shultzy's event for Seattle Beer Week and we'll have special beers and hopwurst (sausage made with beer hops as a flavoring).  Don't miss it!

Nice post on Shultzy's lunch in Seattle Weekly's Voracious

Thanks to Seattle Beer Week co-founder Mike Baker for passing this link along...

Shultzy's: Feels Like Lunch, SBW Pairing Event 5/13

Maggie Dutton, the author, captured lunch at Shultzy's perfectly:

"Walk in here at 12:45pm and every seat is full, 75% of the people have a beer in front of them, soccer is on the tele, and you can barely hear yourself think."
I couldn't have said it better myself. Today was especially fun; you should have heard the explosion from the lunch crowd when Barcelona scored in extra time to advance to the UEFA Champions final against Manchester United.  Wow!  The only bad part is we have to wait three weeks for the final match (May 27th at lunch time).  It will be on all six TVs, the sound will be up, and Hoegaarden will be on special that day -- see you there!

Seattle Beer Week at Shultzy's

We're excited about the first annual Seattle Beer Week. Seattle's a beer-loving city, and we now have a week to celebrate just that, and Shultzy's is proud to be a sponsor.

In fact, we'll be hosting a special event on Wednesday, March 13th
Our own master sausagemaker, Don Schulze will be making hopwurst, sausages made with the same hops used to make your favorite beers. We're currently planning on making one mild hopwurst and one spicy hopwurst ("Hop Italian"?).

Beers? Oh yes, we'll have beers, many of them at Shultzy's for the first time ever. Here's our tentative beer lineup for the event:

Bayern Doppelbock or Maibock (Missoula, MT)
Hacker-Pschorr Weisse (Germany)
Hoegaarden Witbier (Belgium)
Kostritzer Black Beer (Germany)
Left Hand Oak-Aged Imperial Stout (Longmont, CO)
Maredsous 6 Blonde Ale (Belgium)
Ommegang Hennepin Saison (Cooperstown, NY)
Pike Double IPA (Seattle, WA -- Brewed especially for Seattle Beer Week)
Veltins Pilsener (Germany)

Mike Baker, beer guru, co-creator of Seattle Beer Week and Friend of Shultzy's will be matching each of these beers with a sausage, and we'll have a special menu to let you taste several pairings. And, even though it's not Oktoberfest, there are already reports that there will be lederhosen and dirndls present, so come join us for a fun evening.
