Just in time for Husky Football... the Sarkburger!

Shultzy's loves Husky football and has since we opened our doors in 1989.

Over those 20 years, we're proud to have been a part of the great Husky Football memories of our customers, who come to the restaurant before and after every home football game. What could be better than brats, burgers, beers, and a day of football at Husky Stadium. And now, with our 7 (yes we're adding one more this week) flat screen TVs, even those unlucky fans without a ticket can enjoy the Husky football experience with us on The Ave.

This year, we're especially excited because it's our first season with new head coach, Steve Sarkisian. Coach Sark is the perfect man for the Huskies job, and we can't wait to see his Huskies team take the field. He's got us expecting to win again. You are following Coach Sark on Twitter, aren't you? If you're a Huskies fan, you should be -- the photos are great! :)

While we were thinking about football and food this summer (as we've been known to do around the bar), the idea came up for a burger dedicated to Coach Sarkisian... the SARKburger. Of course, we couldn't just name any burger, the SARKburger, this one had to be special. Jared Blank, Coach Sarkisian's Director of Player Personnel, came through in the clutch and got us in touch with Coach Sark; little did we know that Coach Sark was an experienced burger strategist and that he had a dream burger in mind.

The SARKburger is a mix of power and surprise, much the way the best football offenses are. It starts out with a solid foundation of lots of sirloin beef, freshly ground right at Shultzy's. Top that with melted swiss cheese, bacon, and grilled onions, the solid foundation needed for a great burger. Then, to give that element of surprise, the SARKburger has fresh pineapple and our secret Sark-iaki sauce for an extra burst of sweet tangy flavor. And, of course, you get it with our own Coleslaw and the World's Greatest Fries. I'm drooling just writing this.

You can come in for a sneak preview of the SARKburger on Friday, but the official launch is Saturday, September 5th the first game day for Coach Sarkisian's new Husky team. Come on in, enjoy a SARKburger, and watch UW take on LSU at 7:30pm. GO HUSKIES!!!!

Beer from the Roof of the World comes to Shultzy's

The Dalai Lama said, "There won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness.  So I got that goin' for me, which is nice." -- Carl Spackler, Caddyshack

Carl may have to, but you don't have to wait for your deathbed for heavenly rewards; Lhasa Beer is now available at Shultzy's, in 12-ounce bottles.

Despite being made in Tibet, Lhasa is a European-style lager, made according to Bavarian Beer Purity laws with Himalayan water, hull-less Tibetan malted barley, Saaz hops, and yeast.  The result is an easy drinking beer with lively carbonation and a clean, refreshing taste.  10% of the brewery's net profits go to support charitable causes and the brewery itself also provides economic stimulus in the region.

UEFA Champions League, Little League, Husky football, and NFL Football (oh my!)

Tuesday (tomorrow) and Wednesday we'll have the second legs of the first set of UEFA Champions League 2009-2010 matches on TV at lunch.  Between Fox Soccer Channel, Fox Sports, Setanta, and DirecTV's coverage, we should have most, if not all games live, and most in HD on our 6 screens.

We're also in the middle of the Little League World Series and we added a special to make the games a little more exciting for the casual fan: The Bad News Bears discount gives you a shot of iced Sweet Tea Vodka for only $3.99 during LLWS games.  Coach Buttermaker would have approved.

The Washington Huskies home football season starts a week from Saturday against the LSU Tigers, and we're psyched up here at Shultzy's.  We're working with Coach Sark on adding a Sarkburger to the menu -- you'll want to check it out.

Finally, NFL season's not too far off, and we'll have NFL Sunday Ticket again, so not only will you be able to watch the Seahawks here, but you'll be able to catch the Lions, Tigers, and Bears here too! (OK, the Tigers are on our MLB package, but I couldn't resist the allusion).

USA-Mexico World Cup Qualifier is on TV at Shultzy's today at 4!

We thought we were going to be out of luck since the game's only available on Telemundo, but DirecTV's providing the game to all its customers, so we'll be showing today's USA-Mexico World Cup Qualifier today.  Kickoff's at 4pm, but you may want to get here a little early to grab your preferred viewing location (we have six flat screen TVs, so you have plenty of spots to choose from).

It's Witbier Wednesday, so Hoegaarden half liters are $3.99 all day and we have Skyy Kamikazes for $3.99, too!

Bundesliga Soccer is back!

Summer vacations are ending and live international league soccer is returning to TV at Shultzy's. The German Bundesliga gets back into action this Friday at lunchtime with Wolfsburg-Stuttgart starting things off at 11:30am.

To celebrate, we'll have German beers on special for 3.75/0.5L during the game. Prost!
